COBOL Training.
There is currently a big COBOL skills shortage that is having a major impact on a lot of businesses. Because COBOL is a legacy platform, not many training institutions are offering COBOL training and as a result, the skills shortage just increases.
If we take into account that almost 80% of all the software code in the world still consist of COBOL, it is understandable that this shortage is creating a panic. It is very expensive and time consuming to migrate the COBOL systems and many of these businesses just do not have the budget to consider a rewrite in a different programming language. Even if they do, getting the new software to be bug-free and to deliver the same accurate results as the COBOL legacy systems, is a very daunting task.
Most legacy systems were developed over the course of decades and contain a myriad of complexities that needs to be interpreted and transferred to the new platform.
